Regional Gardening Publications
Edible Shasta-Butte If you are not familiar with the edible communities publications, you will love edible Shasta-Butte and edible Sacramento and the farmers, growers and edible gardeners from our surrounding areas that these publications will introduce you to. Great photography, stories and connections to the food and drink of our home soils.
Valley Oak Magazine The publication born of the hard work and organizing energy of David Grau, the force behind the Chico Organic Gardening Class Series each winter and now the Chico Organic Gardening Society (see the Valley Oak Magazine website for information on joining - I did!). The magazine features wonderful articles, advice and photography on all manner of organic gardening and sustainable lifestyle issues. From the site: "Our mission is to gather and share information and resources pertaining to sustainability in the inland California valley bioregion. The magazine is named after the Valley Oak tree which is a unifying and constant feature of California’s inland valleys."
Edible Sacramento
Pacific Horticulture Pacific Horticulture is the publication of a non-profit horticultural advocacy foundation who do a great deal to advance the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of horticulture, gardening and botany all along the west coast. I read each issue cover-to-cover. It is intelligent, inspiring and uncluttered by a lot of gardening product advertisement, which I appreciate. The publication is celebrating their 35th anniversary in 2010.
